  • 9 lasagna noodles
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup chopped onions
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 28 oz can crushed tomatoes
  • 6 oz tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Boil a large pot of salted water and cook the lasagna noodles according to the package instructions until al dente.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese with the egg, adding salt and pepper.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat, then sauté onions and garlic until fragrant.
  4. Add ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, then stir in crushed tomatoes and tomato paste with seasonings, allowing to simmer for 15-20 minutes.
  5. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and spread a layer of meat sauce on the bottom of a baking dish.
  6. Layer three lasagna noodles, half the ricotta mixture, and one third of mozzarella cheese on top of the sauce. Repeat and finish with a final layer of meat sauce and remaining cheeses.
  7. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes, then remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until cheese is bubbly.
  8. Let it cool for about 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
