Description
Discover a new take on the classic meatball recipe using 4C bread crumbs for perfectly tender and flavorful homemade meatballs. This easy-to-follow recipe is perfect for a comforting family meal or a crowd-pleasing appetizer.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef (or a mix of beef and pork)
- 1 cup 4C bread crumbs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Your favorite tomato sauce
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the 4C bread crumbs with the milk. Allow this mixture to sit for about 5 minutes to soften the bread crumbs.
- In a separate small bowl, whisk together the egg and Parmesan cheese.
- Add the ground meat, minced garlic, dried oregano, salt, and pepper to the bowl with the softened 4C bread crumbs. Pour the egg and Parmesan mixture over the meat and bread crumbs. Gently mix everything together with your hands until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- Roll the mixture into 1-inch meatballs. You can either bake them in a preheated oven at 375Β°F (190Β°C) for 20-25 minutes, or brown them in a skillet over medium heat with a little olive oil.
- Once cooked, add the homemade meatballs to your favorite tomato sauce and simmer for at least 15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
Notes
- Use a mix of ground beef and pork for a richer flavor.
- Donβt overmix the meatball mixture to avoid tough meatballs.
- Wet your hands with water to prevent the mixture from sticking when rolling the meatballs.
- Simmer the homemade meatballs in your favorite tomato sauce for deeper flavor.
- Add chopped onions or bell peppers to the meatball mixture for extra flavor and texture.
- Use different types of cheese, such as mozzarella or provolone, for a cheesy twist.
- Spice things up by adding a pinch of red pepper flakes.
